Privacy Policy
Batch & Blend is made by Andy Whitlock (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Batch & Blend app on Mac, iPhone and iPad.
The short version: we don’t collect your data. Your recipes, supplies, batches, customers and sales live on your own devices and, if you turn on iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. We can’t see your records.
1. What stays on your device and in your iCloud
Everything you enter — recipes, notebooks, photos, voice notes, supplies and costs, batches, stock, customers, sales and reports — is stored in the app on your device. If iCloud is turned on for Batch & Blend, Apple keeps a copy in your private iCloud database so your devices stay in sync. That database belongs to your Apple Account. We cannot read it, and it is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Backups you make (including the automatic daily backups) are files saved on your device, in a folder you can see and delete.
2. Permissions the app asks for
The app asks only when you use the feature, and you can say no:
- Camera — to take batch photos and capture recipe pages. Photos stay in your library of records.
- Microphone — to record voice notes you choose to keep. Speech is turned into text on your device by Apple’s speech recognition; the audio is not sent to us.
- Photos and files — only the items you pick.
- Notifications — optional reminders (for example, when a batch finishes curing). They are scheduled on your device.
3. Things that leave your device only when you ask
- AI suggestions (optional). By default, recipe suggestions run with Apple’s on-device model. If you choose a cloud AI service (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI or Google Gemini) and enter your own key, then each time you tap Send the app shows you exactly what will be sent and sends only that, directly from your device to that service under your own account with them. We never receive it. Your key is kept in your device’s Keychain and is not synced. Those services’ own privacy policies apply to what you send them.
- Shopify (optional). If you connect your Shopify store, the app reads your products and orders directly from Shopify using the access token you provide. It does not change your store. The token is kept in your device’s Keychain.
- Problem reports (optional). Apple may collect crash reports if you have opted in to share analytics with developers in your device settings; Apple shares those with us without your name. Settings ▸ About ▸ “Send a problem report…” makes a text file with the app version, the device model and Apple’s crash reports — never your recipes or records — and lets you choose whether and how to send it to us.
- Things you share or print (a PDF, a CSV, a label) go wherever you send them.
4. Purchases
Subscriptions and the Mac one-time purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. The app checks with Apple which plan you have; Apple tells us about purchases only in the anonymous, aggregate form it gives all developers.
5. What we don’t do
We don’t sell or share your information, we don’t track you across apps or websites, we don’t use advertising or analytics software, and we don’t build profiles.
6. Children
Batch & Blend is a tool for makers and small businesses and is not directed at children under 13.
7. Deleting your data
Delete records inside the app, or delete the app to remove what’s on that device. To remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ iCloud ▸ Manage Storage (on Mac: System Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ iCloud) and delete Batch & Blend’s data. Because we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
8. Changes
If this policy changes we’ll update this page and its effective date, and mention any important change in the app’s release notes.
